Hi, mommies who go cloth diapering! Here are
the tricks that might be useful if you are new to Cloth Diaper.
Trick #1
Pre-wash
§
Every new cloth diaper requires 3-6 times of pre-wash.
§
The pre-wash process will remove the wax or natural oil and
increase absorbency.
§
For the FIRST pre-wash, a small amount of detergent will be good,
but please make sure the detergent is bleach free, softener free and enzyme
free. If you are not sure about the detergent, then just wash it with warm
water.
§
Recommended “Pureen H-A-D” which is suitable for natural fabric.
§
For the Second and above pre-wash, no detergent is required.
§
For bamboo insert, it will reach the best absorbency after 12
wash.
Trick #2
The cloth
diaper can be hand wash or machine wash
Steps
1) Remove
the insert from the cloth diaper.
2) Flush
away the baby poop into the toilet. Skip this step if it is just urine.
3) Secure
the the velcro/snap tabs by sticking them to the fold back tabs.
4) Run a
cold pre-wash(or a short cycle with no detergent).
5) Do a
regular wash in warm water with zero residue detergent (“Pureen H-A-D”).
6) Rinse
diapers in lots of water to avoid build-up of detergent, bacteria or
urine
7) Once
washed, your diapers should not smell like urine or detergent! If they smell of
detergent or urine, wash them again in plenty of warm water.
8) Dry in
the dryer or outside, sunlight will help to kill the bacteria.
9) Hand
wash will prolong the life spend of the cloth diaper.
You may also use special additives to remove stubborn stains. The mentioned additives are as followed.
Baking Soda – It will remove acidity and bad odors. Ideal to utilize in the pre-rinse session.
Bleach – Baby diapers should go through a bleaching process at frequent intervals. This will prevent the accumulation of stains. You can also be free from stinking smells. Chlorine bleach should not be used for cloth diapers.
Fabric Softener – Vinegar heals the fabric quite naturally. It will soften the fabric and removes the stagnant residue present on the cloth diapers. As vinegar has the capacity to change the PH, you should use as rarely as possible. You should be extremely careful in usage of Vinegar with hard water.
